WIPocalypse and wonderful people!

Actually I will deal with the wonderful people first. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to the lovely lady who RAK'd me a whole pile of of the charts that I was looking at the other day.

So to that end I need some sort of fabric to start Baroque. (just don't tell Phill till it's too late to not keep going :D) What fabric and what thread should I use for this piece.

Though on 36ct this piece ends up being 15x15 inches. I've never stitched on anything smaller than 28ct... Any advice on fabrics and threads would be appreciated. I am thinking some sort of greeny brown thread (never tried any fancy threads before!) and a nice light brown coloured fabric so help away please! (I need to be able to order it online.)

So since last time I posted for Wipocalypse I have had a finish :D as many of you know!

It has been washed once I just need to wash it again and iron it so mum can frame it. I will get to it ...

Also I have been working hard on afternoon tea and have finished over 2500 stitches... it;s a bit patchy so I haven't counted exactly how many I did my old math trick of counting the boxes and adding half ones together :D

Yesterday evening I had been here but I sat and stiched most of the evening.

and here is where I finished up :D I love the colours on this piece. Though there is a LOT of black in this!

Now I am going to go and die in a corner. I'm getting really sick of being sick I get cold after cold! I can't wait 'til this one leaves me for a while.

  2. Congrats on your Boxers finish! It looks great! You are making very good progress on Afternoon Tea. Will the Ink Circles piece be on 36ct over 1 and still be 15" square? Or is it stitched over 2, to be the size of 18ct? Good luck choosing the perfect floss!

  3. Your new Ink Circles design is lovely. Don't fuss over trying a higher count fabric ~ it's no big deal ~ just smaller stitches.

I hope you feel better soon!

  5. Stitchers are the most generous people around! I think when it comes to picking fabrics and threads especially when going for specialty fibers you need to sometimes see them in person. Or pick a thread you like and from there pick a fabric. Don't be afraid to go for a high count fabric, they're absolutely lovely to work on!

Congrats on finishing the dogs! I hadn't been back here in a week or two!

Great WIP report I hope to get mine done tonight!

  6. Awwww that's great! Congrats on the RAK, people can be really sweet and those charts are lovely (Cirques des Cercles is definitely on my list). Boxers and Afternoon Tea look fantastic! And I hope you feel better soon. Sometimes you just need to hunker down and let your body get better, as much as it sucks.

  9. Congratulations on this lovely finish! As for the new piece I could imagine it in various colours. But I'd definitely choose an overdyed thread.
I hope you are feeling better by now.

  10. Aren't stitchers wonderful people! How sweet that someone sent you the charts. I'm afraid I can't give you any advice about the fabric...I'm not brave enough to try it! Can't wait to see your new start.

  12. OH!!!That's great on the RAK, Caitlin. :D

How about going up to 32ct since you're used to 28? Looks like the stitch count is 251x251, so it's a little bigger than 15 inches on 32ct and a little under 14 inches on 36ct.

Depending on the green brown, you might want to opt for a cream or white fabbie or a different color fabbie, in case the brown of your thread blends in too much with a brown fabbie.....

    Afternoon Tea's looking fab! :D

  13. Hmm... How adventurous are you in trying new threads? How about silk? I always recommend Vikki's hand-dyed fibers to anyone who wants to try new floss. They're affordable, colourfast, great quality, not to mention gorgeous and well, it's silk ^.^ Take a look at her website here:

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I'm not affiliated in anyway. Just a very happy customer.

    Hugs,
    Veronica.
