Admitting my wip list

Now I'm a bit of a hoarder and I tend to jump from project to project without quite finishing the old ones. I've said it here many times. I would love to be more contained and better at finishing what I start but I love so many projects! I was cleaning up my corner of mess and found a LITTLE LOT of mess. I try to keep on top of it but more often than not it just gets away from me. I've also been home everyday by myself so I tend to spread the mess around.

ANYWAY there is a point to this. I cleaned up the mess and found a pile of projects and realised something. I've been really bad about admitting what I have on the go. Oh I mention them here and there and I have sometimes counted them and I will kind of talk about them. I just haven't sat down and gone here is the list of projects that I have partially finished. Here is what I actually need to do on them.

Now I'm not going to do this all in one go. Mainly because I know I have a couple of crochet projects and many many many cross stitch projects. I think .... if I search for them I may also have some knitting ones but not certain. So I'm going to separate this into sections. Today is Cross Stitch.

Oh and I'm also in the process of creating a page on my blog where the full list with some pictures of these projects is going to reside as a reminder to me. Some of these should really be finished but I just keep getting in my own way.

So in being honest and keeping myself on task here is my list.

Left Over Crazy January Projects
(I was smart and all patterns are neatly kept with these projects. Thankfully!)

1. Gingerbread men. I only have one guy left! Surely I can get myself into gear and finish him?

2,3,4. Joan Elliott Angels. There were 4 of these patterns. I finished one that first year and I have three left in varying stages of completion. They are done on different fabrics/counts but they are all connected.

5,6 Then there were a couple more random Joan Elliott ornaments. The house I finished but the start next to it is actually meant to be a teddy I think....

7. This is part of a set of 2 as well. I finished the first one at the time and then this one has just been sitting. It is really close to a finish I don't know what is stopping me.

Thats's it for my Crazy January WIPs but I do have a lot more that aren't.

8. These tags I started and finished two of them but I always intended to make the full set and they are starting to annoy me as the threads keep getting tangled in the bag. I can finish them.

9. Beacon at daybreak. You know a lot about this one already.

10. Doctor Who Biscornu - I have now finished the top but I still have to do the bottom. I have actually been working on this one.

11. Winter Fairy - so now we're onto the big projects. This hasn't seen the light of day much at all recently but it's still there. I do love working on it when I do bring it out. .... I should do that more!

12. Masquerade Pale Dawn. - Another oh gosh project. I love working on it but it's just sitting at my parents at the moment just because it got packed away. I really need to work on it.

13. Baroque - this one got put away so I could use the stretchers for afternoon tea. I need to get a second set of stretchers.

14.  Afternoon Tea - Because I can't forget this project. It's one of the big ones that I'm actually working on! This isn't the most recent photo.

Now this is only what I could find in the search. I may have more but if I do have a couple of little ones hanging around I have no clue where they are!

Do you have a list of projects that you forget about? Things that get pushed to the back? I used to be a 2 project girl. Now I just have too much on the go which is almost as bad!

Doctor Who - Finished

I have a couple of doctor who projects to share. Some stitching and some drawing.

I'll start with the finish. I finished the drawing that I shared with you before Christmas. So here is the Tardis in all it's glory.

I did promise some stitching as well. I worked on my Doctor Who Biscornu while we were camping as well. I am almost finished the front. Just need to finished the square around the edge.

Christmas Headbands

Oh gosh! I am my worst enemy when it comes to Christmas Crafts. I decided about a week before Christmas that I had to make these ... and so I did. In secret in the mornings and evenings when the kids weren't around or awake. It's really hard to do! It would be easier with younger less knowledgeable kids but I managed to get one sewn in time for Christmas. .... I possibly could have finished the other two but I also wanted to measure it on her.

I used this pattern and made  the kids band. But I changed the length of elastic. I used
7 inches. That fit better around her head. So here are the three headbands all finished. The bands are fully reversible so there are really 6 headbands.

Don't they all look beautiful and bright? These are the same fabrics I used to make her shorts so they match some of her clothes and just look nice for others.

The elastic part at the back is actually quite comfortable. I made one of the Christmas ones for myself in the adult size.

The colours will work with a whole pile of different outfits so she is set for a while.

Gorgeous scales.

Christmas Crafts and photos from my break.

Before Christmas (only about the week before) I decided I needed to make certain gifts for the kids. Queue lots of earlier mornings and later nights trying to sew in secret but I did it. I made Lana some headbands (or partially made them) and Caiden got a pillowcase. I only partially made the headbands as I wanted to measure them on her head before sewing them all. So I finished one and made the other 2 up to the elastic part. They are all done now and I love how they turned out. I need to get photos of them still. I forgot and they have all disaappeared into the abyss.. aka. the BEDROOM!!!!!

The pillowcase for Caiden was very simple. I used these instructions and just cut it long enough according to pillow I already had. It worked out beautifully and I will need to make a lot more of these.

2 days after Christmas we left to go camping. I desperately needed to get away. I think we all did. It was kinda a family affair as we found a place to go and then my parents came along and invited a group of the Landrover people we have been camping with the last couple of years. My sister and her partner came along as did my cousin with his partner and kid. It was just a lovely group of people.

Here was the view from out the tent door every morning. Can I say we were just a little in love?

Though the boys didn't like me taking photos of them :D

We had a beautiful fire and some awesome music. There was even bagpipes one night :D

We went exploring and played games. I even took my cross stitch... I don't know how many people take a big cross stitch frame camping but I did it!

Camp chairs make awesome frame holders.

I think we are already looking forward to next year and the fun we'll get up to.

My Goals for 2016

Oh Gosh! We got here! Thank you all so much for your comments on my My Word post. It was hard to talk about but it felt really great getting it out there. I try to only post happy stuff on this blog and to keep it positive and somewhere I can be happy as my craft is always something I fall back on when I'm upset. I want it to be a positive and this year I have a lot that I want to achieve.

So enough of the random talk and onto my goals. They are quite particular this year. My word is to learn and some/a lot of my craft goals are going that way as well.

  1. Learn how to make lots of different patterns of clothes for myself. I want to create a wardrobe I can enjoy wearing.
  2. Complete a row of Afternoon Tea. I worked on this over the holidays and I absolutely loved it. I miss working on it when I put it away.
  3. Simplify my crafts. - Oh I'm not really going to change much of what I do. But sometimes I just need to work on one or two crafts not ten over the week. I have a couple that I can take to work a small cross stitch, a knitted dishcloth and some simple drawings. Then I want to focus on my big projects at home. My big cross stitch and my clothes sewing.
  4. Enjoy and learn as much as I can. My big learning project this year is sewing. I have so much to learn about and so much to try that I have never tried. I look forward to so much of it.
  5. Craft somehow somewhere everyday. I wasn't the best about posting through November but I thoroughly enjoyed my craft every day goal. It was good to do something. As much as possible I want to share as often as I can.

I also have other goals.

  1. Finish my Diploma of Accounting
  2. Learn as much as I can from my work. Keep learning everyday.
  3. Learn how to let the little things go. I want to enjoy the big things and let the little worries go,

It's going to be a great year :D I want to really embrace learning and growing this year. I don't want to be stagnant I've done that the last couple of years and I didn't enjoy it. So now I'm out and watch out. I am ready to ROCK!
