Fixed my comments

Sorry everyone I was fiddling with my blog and enabled google comments. I just realised that that was not allowing everyone to comment so I've disallowed it. Now you can comment again!

April WIPocalypse

Well I have a couple of surprises this WIPocalypse. I may have made a new start ... I finally made a start on Masquerade Pale Dawn.

It will eventually look like this...

But it looks nothing like it yet. I started in the middle because I couldn't be bothered measuring and I don't have all the colours so this is all I could start with before I really need to go shopping but it's a START!!!

I have also worked on Afternoon Tea

It looked like this but now it looks like this...

Sorry for the really bad photo! It's night here and I'm using my phone. I'm halfway through the column I love working on this piece. I find it annoying to go to projects that are over 2 they don't have as good a cover.

I really haven't worked on any other projects. The only reason I have any stitching to show is I have done some this week... not that much... but a little is good. I have been crocheting but that doesn't fit in this post.

Happy Stitching I probably won't be posting again 'til I get back from New Zealand so that will be next week sometime!

Pumpkin bread ...

Well it was meant to be.

I started with half a butternut pumpkin.

I boiled them up and mashed them.

I added flour, milk, butter, eggs and nutmeg and put it in the oven to bake.
Now the recipe said 160 degrees for about 40mins. 2hrs later I've upped the temperature and just pulled it out of the oven.

It looks beautiful but when you cut it open....

It's still deliciously gooey!

Oh well it kinda worked out and at least its yummy!

Black Beanie

I'm going to New Zealand at the beginning of May and I am really worrying about getting cold. Here one light jumper is usually enough to make you feel warm. It will be freezing! I don't think there will be snow but we're going to the south island so it could be pretty bad.

So with that in mind I found the only wool yarn I have and made a beanie. I kinda just stitched it from about 6 patterns so it doesn't look quite like anything I've seen.

It's kinda squishy but looks pretty :D

Not the best photos but you get the idea :D I crocheted the beanie part and then crocheted the band and then sewed them together.

Here I am trying the head band on... I think I made it a little too lose. But oh well.

And because I can, a photo testing the length of the beanie part.

Hopefully this will be warm enough for my head overseas.

Happy Stitching,
Caitlin

Lest We Forget!

Almost a hundred years ago Australian and New Zealand soldiers (the ANZACs) left in boats to fight in WW1 at Gallipoli. Man soldiers died to save our country.

 Lest We Forget

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
- John McCrae
