Do You Use a Stand? Blog Hop

Well my answer is really easy no I don't use a stand but I really wish I could afford one for my bigger projects! I would love to have afternoon tea on a stand but I have a 17"x11" Q snap that it sits on instead which I have to have on my lap.

Because I don't have a stand I tend to balance my Qsnaps on my lap so I can get a hand underneath and a hand above. It's alright but slow because it doesn't stay steady.  Keeps rocking on my lap.

Unfortunately with not having lived at one home for a while (going between my parents and phills) it wasn't worth it to buy a stand. I hope with the new house I can afford a stand and get myself set up (one that fits my Qsnaps). At least then I won't be driving around everywhere all the time and stitching at home and at Phills....soon. Moving date is in 2 weeks at the moment unless something else happens.

Any recommendations about good quality cheaper stands I will be open to any suggestions.

  1. I use a small 6" hoop, I find it easier to focus on one column at a time that way...I have however been drooling at q-snaps at my fav ONS. My friend made me a bet that if I meet all my Wipocalypse goals he has to buy me a set, so I have some major motivation to get stitching, lol

  2. I wish I could recommend a cheap stand, but they're few and far between. I can't decide between a Lowry and a K's Creations. Both have their benefits... Good luck finding something you can use!!

  3. Not to sound green ... but what is a stand? I had a few hoops left somewhere at mum's house ... tried to get one for my stitching. But my mum said it would stretch the fabric and it is next to impossible to get rid of the marks. So it is just me with huge piles of fabric.

  4. I dont have any stand either, really want to have one but it would be too expensive (the stand itself already expensive not to mention the shipping fee) and we are keep moving around :( I wish I would have one day at least the one that can have qsnap attached!

  5. I have both a floor stand and a lap stand...the floor stand I bought at Hobby Lobby maybe 25 years ago and it still works brilliantly! You can use it with scrolls or Q-Snaps or even rings, but I've been using scrolls most of my life, so I can't personally vouch for how it does with the others. Believe it or not, they do still carry it at HL, only it's a heck of a lot cheaper than when I bought it! This is the exact stand I found on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Needlepoint-Cross-Stitch-Quilt-Hoop-Stand-NIB-/130708730055?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e6ed8f0c7#ht_2263wt_905

The lap stand is fairly new, and I like it best because you can spin the scrolls to the back side easily instead of having to actually take it out of the stand (and this one has an attachment for rings and Q-Snaps). Here is the addy to the website where I bought the lap stand (although technically I bought it off of eBay): http://www.stitchingframe.com/servlet/the-71/StitchEZ%2C-EZ-Stitch%2C-Cross/Detail - I don't use the stand because it just gets in the way.

  6. obviously like your web-site however you have to take a look at the spelling on quite
a few of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling problems and
I in finding it very bothersome to inform the reality then again I will certainly come back again.
