The fun of working

Hello Everyone,

I am now working 6 days a week ... I never realised how much effort it takes to work that much. I don't have to do much planning but it is frustrating I have barely any time to myself!

I have done a tiny tiny bit on Lickle Ted, a very tiny bit.

Lickle Ted
So not much done since last time, but it is almost all filled in in the middle!

Finished ... Sort of ....

well I am finished with to have and to hold except for the names and dates. Since you don't need to see those :D it is to all intents and purposes finished. It is a good feeling. I loved the way that the colours came together at the end and the back stitching looks so interesting with the thick and thin lines. All the french knots are on as well which was quite pleasant to do. I like french knots I've decided.

I haven't been doing much stitching at all! I've been sick with a BAD cold for the past week and I haven't had much energy after 8 o'clock in the evening and I don't get home from work until 7! Oh well hopefully I will get over this soon and get my energy back. I am barely making it through the days. I have to sleep after my morning classes just so I can do my afternoon ones. So if you don't see me around much that is why, the energy to keep going leaves me very little for anything but surviving.

The Show

So the show is today and tomorrow though it is almost tomorrow less than 2 hrs to go!

There was some beautiful art work. The quilts were amazing, the paintings gorgeous and of course the cross stitch was stunning. (I'm not biased at all).

Here are my frogs on display!
And a view of All Our Yesterdays

I didn't win any prizes, I talked to the lady and her comment was that they were too small. Not big enough to win against some of the bigger works.

Here's the big winner
The cats were gorgeous I had a look at them and the detail is pretty. There isn't much I could do against that! Here are some other works that I liked.

This also won first in another category
A pretty pillow :D
So now I know what to do for next time. Make it bigger but not too big that I'm not allowed to display it at all.
These cards caught my friends eye
The cards are stitched. Where you use the thread to make the shapes you want it to.

As the day wore on out came the fireworks :D I just had to try to take photos and I don't think I did too badly.
So with a lovely end to the day I have got on here put up the post full of lovely photos and I hope to win next time!

Night night,

Avoiding the computer

I've had that sort of week. I haven't had time to think. I've done barely any stitching but I seem to have not stopped. I now teach 4 afternoons during the week and 5 mornings. I also nanny one morning and one afternoon during the week. Yes that means I am essentially working 5 days full time and one half day. As much as I love softball I can't wait until it's over so I get some of my weekend back!

I have been reading a lot because I haven't been able to settle in to any one thing, and I can read in 5 minute breaks. I have been reading Mercedes Lackey's "Sleeping Beauty". It's from her 500 kingdoms series, fairy tales with a twist. I love her writing it's so enjoyable to read. I have quite a large number of her books in my collection. I have most of her Valdemar series and I am collecting the 500 kingdoms books now.

I do have some pictures to post. I have put some words on the To Have and To Hold and I have been making labels to put on the back of my pictures.

To Have and To Hold 20-7-11
Labels for my finished cross stitches
The labels say "Handmade with love Caitlin 2011" I have stuck them to the back of the frames because you can't put signatures on the front or they don't like them when you put the exhibits into shows. I put the frogs and all our yesterdays into the Mt Gravatt Show yesterday and tomorrow I get to see them :D. I know this is just a local show for my area and nothing compared to the royal queensland show (EKKA) but the Mt Gravatt Show means a lot to me. For as long as I can remember I have gone to the show. Every year we looked forward to seeing what fun stuff will be there to see. I live just behind the showgrounds and we can see the fireworks from our back porch. We walk out our back gate and up to the show, the memories are many. So being able to see my own work in this show will be amazing.

I will post pictures tomorrow of some of he displays, they are always gorgeous and I saw them setting up the quilts when I dropped in my cross stitch so it is exciting.

I will try and get on more frequently this week but we shall see it should hopefully be not that bad.

Update: To Have and To Hold

Well I am well and truly onto the backstitch. One colour is all done. Actually all the backstitch around the flowers and leaves is done, now the only parts are the words and the design of the 2 people. I love watching this come together.

To Have and To Hold - 13-7-11
Yes I know that says the 13-7 I lost my camera for a couple of days and I haven't done any work on it since then. That and I've been really sick. One of the kids has given me a gastro bug, thankfully I'm over it now but.....

Anyway I took my entry into the Ekka on Tuesday but I have to wait a month to find out whether I've won. That was the Land In Sight. I also took my form up today to the local show, to hand it in. I'm putting the frogs and the AOYs in there. It is so exciting. That show is next weekend the 23rd and 24th of July so I don't have to wait as long to find out. I will make sure I take my camera and take lots and lots of pictures!
