Applique
So today starts my journey into the A-Z challenge and I have been going back and forth with what to do but Applique stuck out.So what is applique?
The definition is actually an ornament or device attached over the top of the surface. It comes from a French word meaning 'applied' or 'thing that has been applied'. In crafting it is most often used in making quilts. Where a design is appliqued onto the surface of the quilt so that it shows a picture. But technically anything you stick onto another surface counts.
I haven't done much applique... actually I've done nothing on the quilting front but I have done some crochet applique. Although I think even Scrapbooking would count as a form of applique.
Some Examples
So given the fact I haven't done much applique I started to look around the house and did actually find a number of examples. This Kawaii Kutie (pattern by Funky Friends Factory) that I made last year has an appliqued face. It really does make a gorgeous face.
I also just bought a new jumper for Lana and it has an appliqued paw around the hand.
Where to get some help
So in my search for information I found this website. That has a great guide to applique and how to do it.
Also if you're into crochet applique, you should check out Repeat Crafter Me! She has a great free pattern for a Crochet Applique Animal Blanket.
And on the same vein Moogly has a Crochet Alphabet to go with it.
Happy Stitching,
Caitlin
P.S. tune in tomorrow for B
Great start to the challenge Caitlin.

Really cute examples! I have never done applique - and I probably shouldn't add one more to the list of things I want to do but don't have time for - but this did inspire me a little.
